I realised some time ago that it was impossible to write about Afghanistan without writing about Pakistan and other neighbouring countries. With that in mind, the reader will come across articles that, while not specifically about Afghanistan, in some way shed light on the conflict.
These images from Afghan photographer Najibullah Musafer serve to remind us that despite the unremittingly bad news that comes from Afghanistan every day, there is another Afghanistan that is a million miles away from the land of conflict and chaos we always hear about. If you would like copies of Najibullah's pictures - some from the Bamian Valley, others from Kabul and Band-e-Amir - please contact him directly at n_musafer@yahoo.com.

Wonderful images all. I've been in a few of the places pictures, noteably Bamyan. As you say, this does remind us that there's an entire country there full of people doind exactly what we're doing: living, working, watching sport, enjoying family and so on.
